Household energy assessments

Household energy assessments

Boucher Consultancy is an accredited Residential Efficiency Scorecard assessor with the Victorian government and undertakes home energy assessments.

We will conduct a site visit to inspect, measure and rate key features of your home.

Cost $380 (inc. GST) - assessment and report.

Cost $480 (inc. GST) - assessment, report and Scorecard certificate.

An energy assessment will provide the householder with a personalised 30-50 page report that: details the retrofits required to improve occupant comfort and reduce energy costs; links to recommended products and local organisations who can help with upgrades. Recommendations can also be made to replace gas appliances with electric equivalents.

Householders can receive a Scorecard certificate for an additional $100 fee. The Certificate provides a Scorecard rating for your home.

The report will focus on the following areas:

Insulation

A physical inspection of the ceiling cavity and underfloor (if suspended) to clarify the current insulation r-value. The inspection will also determine the quality of existing insulation cover and whether gaps in insulation coverage are present. The report will provide links to high quality insulation products and recommended local installers who can assist with upgrades.

Draft Proofing

A physical inspection of all draft points in your home using thermal imaging

technologies. The report will identify areas of heat loss / gain within your home. If appropriate, the report will provide links to high quality products to help minimise drafts, techniques for installation, and recommend local installers.

Windows

Windows are typically the thermal weak point in a home that exacerbates heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer. The report will analyse your windows and window furnishings for thermal efficiency. If appropriate, the report will recommend high performing internal window coverings, external window options, and glazing improvements such as double glazing retrofits and films.

Heating and Cooling

An analysis of current heating and cooling systems within your home will be conducted.  If required, efficient heating and cooling systems and reverse cycle air-conditioning brands, models and sizes will be recommended specific to the requirements of your home. High quality local installers can also be recommended.

Hot Water system

An analysis of the existing hot water system specific to your home’s needs will be undertaken. If required, recommendations may include an energy efficient alternative (for example a heat pump HWS), recommended budget and quality hot water systems, State and Federal Government rebates available and local organisations who can assist with supply and installation.

Solar PV system

Boucher Consultancy has installed hundreds of solar PV systems through BREAZE Energy Solutions. Dale can provide independent advice on the recommended array size, roof capacity, switchboard capacity and components (panels and inverters).

Gas to electric

Each report includes a gas to electric recommendations for gas appliances such as heating (central/ hydronic/standalone), hot water systems and cooktops. Efficient electric equivalents and local organisations who can assist with upgrades will be included in the report.
